What is Hospice Care?

Veterinary Hospice is a family-centered, medically supervised service dedicated to maintaining comfort and quality of life for the terminally ill or geriatric pet until natural death occurs or the family elects euthanasia.

Important things to note about Hospice Care:

  • The focus of this type of care is on providing comfort and maintaining quality of life, not finding a cure.

  • Does not include any diagnostic services, but can involve blood work and physical exam rechecks to monitor certain disease progressions.

  • Our goal is to focus on comfort/pain relief and maintaining your bond with your pet.

What about Palliative Medicine?

Palliative medicine is symptom management to improve Quality of Life without trying to cure the patient.

It may utilize standard pharmaceuticals or alternative-style treatments such as cold laser therapy, acupuncture, etc.

Hospice is the last stage of care with palliation.
